A die is a tool that is used for stamping products out of a roll or sheet of material. The material that is to be stamped can range from paper to metal. It is possible to carry out multiple operations using a single die, such as cutting, bending and punching. If there are multiple phases in a single stamping process, locators have to be built in so that the strip is positioned correctly. The quality of the stamped product depends on e.g. the cutting groove, the sharpness of the cutting blade, the punched sheet, strip layout, etc.
