DutchForm was created on 1 January 2015 by a merger between the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Modelmakerijen (NVvM, Dutch Association of Model Makers) and the Moulds & Dies Industry (MDI). The key reason for the merger was that the mould makers and model makers were growing closer together. What the members from these two sectors have in common is that they produce the forms that other companies use to make products. The processes for making these tools (models and moulds) also have a lot of similarities: they are increasingly working intensively with CAM and CMC technology. This is because the markets that they serve do not differ much from one another. It may be the case that one is more involved with metalworking and the other with wood or plastics, but even that distinction is becoming blurred.
